Catholic Bishop Decrees Lawmakers Who Voted for Same-Sex Marriage Should Not Receive Communion

The bishop is right: those who voted for same-sex marriage should not receive holy communion in the Catholic Church because

(1) the Catholic Church is a worldwide political party that has the right to define its own laws and rules;

(2) these laws and rules must be strictly observed by those who decide to maintain affiliation with this political party;

(3) the defiance of the laws and rules results in the exclusion of disobedient members.

As one can see, the bishop is right claiming the denial of holy communion for advocates of equality and reason. The bishop, however, would not be right if he claimed that political affiliation with the Catholic Party has anything to do with God, Reason, or Love.
